5 Ways to Get Moving and Feel Better!
When you’re feeling unwell or you’re struggling with your mental health, exercise can often be the last thing you feel like doing. But it is proven that physical activity can help both your mental and physical wellbeing. So here are 5 tips to help you to get moving and on the road to feeling better:
Start small. You don’t need to throw yourself in at the deep end to start. In fact, this will only make it less likely for you to continue. Instead, try a short walk with friends or join a club that you think you will enjoy.
Be kind to yourself. If you have started doing something new in addition to what you normally would, that’s a step in the right direction!
Normal everyday things count. Hoovering, mopping, walking the dog – it all counts! A clean home and an empty to-do list can be good for your mental health too.
Clear your head. Physical activity is known to help you concentrate on other things, bar your thoughts and worries.
Celebrate your achievements. Give yourself a pat on back or a reward whenever you’ve done something well or hit a target.
These are just some ideas to help you get going. After all, the start is always the hardest part.
